If there's one stone that people always recognise and adore, its Rose Quartz. Of all the requests I get for gemstones, I'd say this is the one that my customers ask for the most.
This gorgeous stone has many varieties, with the pale, semi-translucent milky pink being the most common. Its spans deep to light rose, right down to a golden white. It measures 7 on the hardness scale, and is just one of the many varieties of Quartz. Its found in Germany, USA, and India, but at present the main source is Brazil.
I use Rose Quartz mixed in with all shades of pink, white, and even soft greens, in both necklaces and bracelets. It acts as a highlight to other colors, and brings value and sofistication to pinks that can sometimes look too candy like. For this reason also, its particularly popular in bridal jewellery, as it compliments ivory, white and creams. You can see where I've used it in the top layer of this Wreath Necklace above.
Medicinally, it has been used to promote the release of fluids and of impurities in the body. It has also been used in the treatment of vertigo ! Astrological signs - Taurus & Libra. |
